Alsi/ Flaxseeds are the seeds of a blue flowering plant Flax (Linum usitatissimum), from the family of Lineacea. Alsi is widely cultivated in various states of India including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Himachal Pradesh. Flaxseed is used for constipation, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, and swelling of the kidneys in people with lupus. It is also used for many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support most of these other uses. Flax seeds are usually brown or yellow. They’re sold whole, ground/milled, or roasted and are often processed into flaxseed oil.
